Thanks to the huge work of benob on eeeusers forums, now all the EEE user are able to install a nice script called eee ubuntu support that allow you to optimize your Ubuntu installation for your favorite UMPC.
Here you can see a little video of my EEE with Ubuntu, Compiz and Awm installed.
Now let’s talk about Ubuntu on EEE.
First of all we have to say that boot time is higher than Xandros one, it takes approx 40sec, but ‘m so sure that unistalling some things (like bluetools) and recompiling the kernel it should boot faster.
Another important thing is related to free disk space, that with ubuntu installed is around 2gb, and the new feature by benob to overclock easily you EEE to 900mhz just pressing the Hotkey Fn+F6.
With Ubuntu eee support script we have full support on Hotkey with also OSD notification on events.
The only big trouble that i notified is with gnome-network that doesn’t work fine with my eee, but ‘ve just finished to read that it seems to be a random thing, infact lots of people use that script without problems.
By the way if you have any problem with your wifi connection, i suggest you to uninstall it, and the install wicd.
